Everyone deserves to afford care.
Everyone deserves to afford care. AffordPath starts with the person, the household and the assistance options that may be available. Affordability is our purpose, not an afterthought.
A clearer next step can make all the difference. ALICE is designed to explain the process in plain language, help people understand their options and guide them without judgment.
The problem is not the patient, the provider or the bill. It is the avoidable manual process: repeated forms, mailed documents and disconnected requests. AffordPath is designed to replace that repetition with a guided digital path.
Clear decisions begin with clear information. Our approach brings together consumer permission, relevant income information and a review against applicable assistance requirements. Estimates and source-verified information must remain clearly distinguished.
Assistance should reflect the person and the policy. Household circumstances, applicable guidelines and the provider's charity-care policy shape the review. The hospital or program makes the assistance decision, while current circumstances inform a separate affordability conversation.
Support the person. Honor the mission. AffordPath stands with consumers without standing against providers. Our goal is clearer choices, documented review and a respectful path forward. That is what respect looks like, made real.

Northview Health Partners · Agent@affordpath.com · www.affordpath.com
For more than three decades, I have asked the same question in every room I have worked in: what is actually affordable to the person receiving the bill?
Not what a spreadsheet says they can pay. Not what a policy assumes. What is real for a family sitting at the kitchen table, trying to make sense of a statement they were never meant to understand. I have spent my entire career close to that moment — building patient-financing and affordability businesses from the ground up — and I have watched too many people walk away from help they had every right to receive, simply because no one made it findable, understandable, or reachable in their own language.
AffordPath is the answer I wish those families had all along. It listens with empathy, speaks plainly, bridges the language and literacy gap, and searches every program a person could qualify for — then guides them to the ones that truly fit. It brings real advocacy to every patient, at a scale that reaches everyone.
I chose to launch AffordPath through Northview Health Partners for one reason: direct access to health systems already doing the hard work of early adoption — measuring adaptation and uptake, and genuinely committed to affordability as a standard of care, not a courtesy. That access lets us prove what works, alongside the partners who care most about getting it right.
Everything I have built has led here. This has been my mission for a long time, and AffordPath is how I intend to finish it.
Message from Founder ~ Steve Wright
Founder, AffordPath · Patient-finance and healthcare-affordability pioneer
Steve Wright has spent more than 40 years building financial-technology and patient-finance businesses, many of them industry firsts. Beginning his career at U.S. Bank in Portland, Oregon, he went on to co-found Card Capture Services, an early electronic-payments and ATM-network company that grew to more than 10,000 machines across North America before its acquisition by E*Trade. He has founded or led a succession of ventures ever since — consistently first to market with consumer-friendly innovations that the wider industry later adopted as standard.
In healthcare, Steve has focused squarely on the affordability problem. He founded CarePayment, one of the industry’s first patient-finance businesses and an early pioneer of the consumer-friendly 0% APR, pre-qualified enrollment model. He later founded and built a patient-financing company that was acquired by a national healthcare receivables firm, where he served as Chief Revenue Officer and then Chief Innovation Officer — helping grow annual sales from $12M to over $75M. He went on to build an industry-first consumer platform designed to help people “rise above medical debt” by pairing verified, real-time affordability guidance with education and follow-on consumer financial products.
A University of Oregon graduate (Lundquist College of Business), Steve brings to AffordPath a rare combination: deep operating experience across banking, fintech, and consumer healthcare receivables, a track record of inventing products that become market standards, and a lifelong conviction that affordability should be built into the healthcare experience — not buried in paperwork. AffordPath is the culmination of that work.
Every year, patients who are entitled to charity care and discounts never receive them — often simply because the process is confusing or invisible. AffordPath uses technology to surface assistance automatically, guide patients with empathy, and give providers the compliance trail they need.
We believe affordability should be built into the healthcare experience, not buried in paperwork.
AffordPath is on a mission to make healthcare more affordable for everyone. Our technology and expertise help providers deliver financial assistance more efficiently while improving access and outcomes for the patients who need it most.
Designed to support review against provider assistance policies and applicable requirements. The provider remains responsible for eligibility decisions and compliance.
Designed to work alongside your existing systems, starting with the lightest possible integration.
Consent-first workflows and restricted access are part of the design. Production safeguards and data-handling terms must be agreed before sensitive information is exchanged.
A dedicated team is here to help you and your patients every step of the way.
Thirty years of healthcare experience sits behind everything AffordPath does — built to reach every patient, in every state, in the language they speak.
Decades of payer, provider, and revenue-cycle leadership are built directly into the product — so the guidance patients and providers receive reflects how charity care and financial assistance actually work.
Our approach is designed for nationwide use, with applicable state requirements and provider policies reviewed as part of each implementation.
ALICE, our AI assistant, walks each patient through the process in plain language — answering questions, reducing anxiety, and making a confusing bill feel manageable.
A rules-based approach considers household income, applicable poverty guidelines, state requirements and provider policy. A screening estimate is not a final assistance decision.
Guidance comes through both AI and live support, in the patient's own language — so a language or literacy barrier never stands between someone and the help they qualify for.
AffordPath is designed to help people explore relevant charity-care, discount and payment options. Available programs and eligibility depend on the provider and the person’s circumstances.
We believe that responsible policies and practices — concerning people, planet, and partnerships — drive long-term performance and position the companies we build for sustainable growth.
We focus on transparency and accountability, on fostering more equitable communities, and on taking meaningful action for change.
Patients and families come first, in every decision we make.
Responsible, sustainable practices across the business.
Shared mission and values with the systems we serve.
Whether you're a provider, payer, or partner, we'd love to show you what AffordPath can do.
